 About the Society

Sir Ganga Ram Hospital (SGRH) was founded in 1921 at Lahore, Pakistan by Sir Ganga Ram (1851-1927), a civil engineer and leading philanthropist of his times. After the partition in 1947, the present hospital was established in New Delhi. The foundation was laid in April 1951 by the then Prime Minister of India Shri Jawahar Lal Nehru and inaugurated by him on 13 April 1954. The hospital is governed by a Board of Management comprising medical consultants of eminence, some with an international standing. The Board of Management operates under the overall guidance of the Sir Ganga Ram Trust Society. The society has been registered vide registration no 07AADTS4366EIZH dated 18th September 2017.

Sir Ganga Ram Hospital is a 675-bed multi-speciality state-of-the-art Hospital in India. It provides comprehensive Healthcare India services, and has acquired the status of a premier medical institution. It is the only hospital in the private sector that has maintained nearly 100% bed occupancy due to its reputation of providing the highest level of medical services to patients from India and neighbouring countries.

Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in India continues to maintain its charitable character in accordance with to the wishes of its founder. Funds generated from the hospital services are partially utilised for providing free health care to the poor and needy patients. All development activities of the hospital are financed from internal resources, with no financial assistance provided by the government or other external agencies. The hospital is committed to make available 20% beds of total strength for admission of indigenous and financially weaker section of the society. On these beds all facilities boarding, lodging, investigations, medicine and operative procedures are free.  In addition to that we are running regular OPDs for all disciplines where patients are seen free of charge. 40% of all the investigations is the OPD patients are free of charge.

  About the Journal

Current Medicine Research and Practice (CMRP), an official publication of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital (SGRH) previously known as The Ganga Ram Journal which was started in January 2011 and has completed a decade of its successful publication. Current Medicine Research and Practice is a peer-reviewed print + online bimonthly journal. From January 2014, Elsevier started publishing our journal which was not an open access, so we have changed the publisher in September 2020, since then full text is available online at http://www.cmrpjournal.org. The journal allows free access (Open Access) to its contents and permits authors to self-archive final accepted version of the articles on any OAI-compliant institutional / subject-based repository.

During the pandemic and transition period in 2020, all articles which were submitted and peer-reviewed on the Elsevier platform were then resubmitted at our new editorial manager before acceptance.

The journal accepts original articles on clinical and laboratory research in the field of medicine, and review articles on topics of current interest. In addition, the Journal features articles of educational value to postgraduate students such as "Research Methods" and "Technology Updates". CMRP aims at publishing articles with a special focus on health in developing countries, which highlight the common problems of the region and their possible solutions.

CMRP is also indexed in Indian Citation Index, and The World Journal Clout Index (WJCI).

Digital Archiving

Wolters Kluwer Medknow provides for long-term digital preservation through two primary partnerships, Portico and CLOCKSS.

Portico is a leading digital preservation service worldwide. The content is preserved as an archival version and is not publically accessible via Portico, but is provided when required under specific conditions, such as discontinuation of the collection or catastrophic failure of the website.

CLOCKSS will enable any library to maintain their own archive of content from Wolters Kluwer Medknow and other publishers, with minimal technical effort and using cheaply available hardware.

Ahead of Print policy

Articles published online under the Ahead of Print model are considered published and can be cited and quoted using the DOI as the reference source. Wolters Kluwer Medknow has a policy that changes will not be made after publication of an article without following accepted procedures for making corrections to the scientific record.

Advertisements

While advertisements are crucial to this journal to be able to keep all content free for everyone, ethical considerations are in place to ensure the integrity of the journal and its content:

  • "Pop-up" and "banner" ads appear on a random, rotating basis. The advertiser has no control or input over the pages where their ads appear.
  • The Editorial Board has full and final approval over the content of all advertisements.
  • Advertisers will never be shown any manuscripts or other content prior to publication.

  Scope of the journal

Current Medicine Research and Practice (CMRP) is an international double blinded peer-reviewed medical journal, an official publication of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, India. The journal aims to the continuing professional development of all medical specialties by publishing papers on a wide range of topics relevant to the practicing clinician and the basic science researcher. Articles published in CMRP include outstanding research in all branches of clinical practice, translational medicine, medical education, public health, and general topics of interest to the biomedical research community. The journal publishes several types of articles including original clinical; brief reports (small-scale research or research that is in early stages of development); reviews; clinical summary; editorials; viewpoints; and correspondence on clinical matters.  There are no submission fees, no page or other publication charges, and no subscription fees.
